# Contests

### Contests

Contests are the easiest way to start winning on Longshot. Enter, make your picks, and get paid.

* **Enter**: Pay a fixed entry fee, or jump into a free-to-play contest. Some paid contests have a prize pool that grows as more entries are added.
* **Predict:** Submit what the contest calls for—such as a slate of picks in Lineups, a round-by-round selection in Survivor, or an exact-value prediction in Outcast.
* **Scoring:** When the underlying events resolve, your entry is scored and ranked according to that contest type's posted rules.
* **Win**: Each contest type publishes its payout rules before you enter. Lineups reward the highest finishers; Survivor splits the pool among the entries that advance furthest; Outcast rewards every entry that stays out of last place; Streak pays at milestones.

**Free-to-play vs. paid.** Free-to-play contests cost nothing and the prizes are on us. Paid contests charge a fixed entry fee. When a paid contest's prize pool can grow, a plus sign appears beside the amount. Select the plus sign to see after how many entries each additional entry increases the pool.

**Featured contests.** Longshot may explicitly feature up to two contests while entries are open. If one contest is featured, it appears in the right featured card; if two are featured, they fill the cards from left to right. Eligible featured contests are returned before the normal lobby ordering, and a contest automatically leaves the featured placement when entries close or fill.
