Placing a prediction on Longshot is quite simple. Below is the whole flow.

1. Pick your market

Browse markets and choose an outcome you want to predict.

2. Make a single prediction, or add legs to make a combo

One leg is a single prediction. Add more and they combine into one slip with one price. Users can add up to 9 legs. Every added leg multiplies the total payout.

3. Set your entry amount

Enter how much you want to put on the slip. This is the amount at risk. All legs inside a combo must be correct, otherwise the slip loses.

4. Request a price

Before you hit the request button, estimated odds are shown. Once you hit a request, your prediction slip goes out to market makers, who compete to fill it based on the best price.

5. You’re filled

Your slip moves to your portfolio, where you can track each leg as the events play out. Please note that the fill price may deviate from the initial estimated price. There’s no selling out mid-event in v1.

Things worth knowing

Prices expire. Quotes are live for 500ms. Markets move, and makers won’t hold a price indefinitely. If yours expires, request another one. Sometimes there’s no price. If no maker takes the other side, you won’t get a quote back. This usually means the market is thin or your ticket has too many legs. Try a smaller stake or fewer legs. Your balance is held while a quote is in process. The stake is reserved the moment you request, so it can’t be double-spent. If the request isn’t filled, it’s released immediately. What comes back is the best price available.
